Phillips Academy
Andover, MA
Phillips Academy, an independent preparatory school in Andover, Massachusetts, serves students in grades 9–12 across its expansive 700-acre campus of academic, residential, cultural, and athletic facilities.
Long-Term Partnership, Lasting Solutions
Samiotes has partnered with Phillips Academy on numerous projects, from athletic and arts facilities to student housing and academic buildings. Each project has required solutions for challenging site conditions—including high groundwater, steep slopes, and construction within an active campus environment. To address these constraints, Samiotes has implemented an array of Low Impact Development (LID) stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs), such as rain gardens, grass channels, sediment forebays, drywells, and infiltrating subsurface structures. Many of these systems also serve as outdoor teaching tools, extending learning beyond the classroom.
Notable projects include the Snyder Athletic Center (LEED Platinum, AIA New England Design Award, 2018), Pan Athletic Center, Music Building, Bartlett Hall, Bancroft Hall Dorms, Oliver Wendell Holmes Library, Rafferty Field, Faculty Homes, Peabody Museum, and the Field House & Squash Courts.
