Needham Public Safety Building
Needham, MA
In Needham, the police and fire department programs were reimagined, by constructing a new building that was designed to accommodate the changing requirements and growing needs of this dynamic community. The project called for the demolition of the existing Public Safety facility (built in 1931) and Fire Station #2 facility (built in 1949), located on two different sites, and subsequent design and construction of a new Public Safety building for police & fire station located on the current Public Safet site, plus a new Fire Station #2 on another site. The building, constructed on the Public Safety site, includes police & fire operations, larger apparatus bays and common spaces.
The project included construction of a temporary Fire Department facility with associated utilities services on the Hillside School property. The temporary facility was located in close proximity to a Wetland Resource Area, requiring filing of a Notice of Intent (NOI) with the Conservation Commission.
