Minuteman Vocational Regional Technical High School

The new Minuteman Regional Vocational Technical High School reimagines vocational learning for more than 600 students while carefully integrating with its sensitive natural setting adjacent to Minuteman National Park. The 36-acre campus features academic classrooms, specialty vocational spaces, a “main street” retail zone, collaborative learning areas, a 300-seat theater, athletic facilities, and a new turf field—all designed to prepare students for 21st-century careers across trades, sciences, and the arts.
Bridging Education, Environment, and Community
Samiotes provided comprehensive civil engineering, land surveying, and environmental permitting services from feasibility through construction. Key contributions included:

Coordinating with the Cambridge Water Department to address Class A Water Supply protection and permitting requirements

Designing site utilities, grading, and LEED-driven infrastructure that balanced constructability with sustainability goals

Integrating more than ten stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs), including Low Impact Development features, to improve water quality and reduce impervious surfaces

Collaborating with York Bridge Concepts to design vehicular and pedestrian timber bridges that are both functional and aesthetic, embracing the surrounding wetlands as a campus asset

Ensuring no disturbance to wetland resource areas while maintaining a phased approach to redevelopment
Through thoughtful engineering and environmental stewardship, Samiotes helped deliver a campus that empowers students with hands-on learning opportunities while preserving and enhancing the natural resources that define its historic location.
