Grove Hall Community Center
Boston, MA
The new Grove Hall Community Center will bring vital recreational, educational, and social resources to Dorchester—delivering a 41,500 SF, ground-up facility on a tight urban parcel. With programming that spans all ages and interests, the center is designed to serve as a true neighborhood anchor.
Creating A Multi-Generational Hub on a Complex Urban Site
Samiotes is providing civil engineering and environmental permitting services to support the design and delivery of this major community investment. Working within a constrained site footprint and adjacent public ways, the team is developing solutions that manage infrastructure demands while enhancing connectivity to surrounding civic spaces.
Civil engineering contributions include:
-
Designing new utility services and site systems to support the multi-use building program
-
Developing stormwater management strategies that meet BWSC infiltration requirements and address peak runoff rates
-
Coordinating PIC permitting for new sidewalks, streetscape improvements, and a crosswalk linking the new public plaza to the existing Grove Hall BPL Plaza
-
Supporting a wide range of facility components including a pool, gymnasium, maker space, teaching kitchen, art studio, teen center, senior center, and after-school program
Samiotes’ work ensures that this highly anticipated project not only fits its urban context but strengthens the everyday experience for residents who rely on community spaces the most.
