About:
Despina Samiotes is a founding Principal, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Financial Officer for Samiotes Consultants, Inc. She plays a key role in the decision-making process for the expansion and growth of the office from its inception in 1987. She continues to provide direction and leadership toward achieving of the organization’s vision, mission, values, annual goals and objectives.
Her leadership effectiveness is rooted not in her own actions, but in what her team can achieve. She believes in empowering the company’s people to implement their own ideas and take responsibility for both their actions and their impact. The collective outcome? An organization that is greater than the sum of its parts, with a team that holds each other accountable to serve our clients' needs and to improve themselves. Despina continues to evolve and enhance her leadership by participating in CEO Dialog groups, which illuminate diverse perspectives, challenge assumptions, and lead to better, more innovative solutions.

Before civil engineering, Despina was an award-winning Biochemist; She received the Alvan T. Viola American Cancer Society Fellowship Award for her work in cancer research and has also been cited in numerous medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine.
Outside of work, Despina is an avid organic gardener, growing her plants from seed. She is passionate about Greek cooking and has resurrected many old family recipes. She also enjoys her fitness routine and likes to integrate nature into it. Most of all, she loves being "YiaYia" to her four beautiful grandchildren.
