Needham Public Safety Building

Needham, MA

In Needham, the police and fire department programs were reimagined, along with a new building, designed to accommodate the changing requirements and growing needs of the community. The project called for the demolition of the existing Public Safety facility (built in 1931), and Fire Station facility (built in 1949), located on two different sites, and subsequent design and construction of a new combined police & fire station on one site, and Fire Station #2 on another site. The building, constructed on an adjacent lot, includes police & fire operations, larger apparatus bays and common spaces.

Civil engineering and land surveying services were provided by Samiotes for the combined police and fire stations. Scope included existing conditions survey, stormwater management, grading, site layout, parking layout design, site utilizes and temporary facility planning board application.
